Secobarbital, often prescribed under the brand name Seconal, is a barbiturate prescription sedative. Largely obsolete these days thanks to benzodiazepines, secobarbital has a grim reputation: in the US, it is the most frequently used drug in physician-assisted suicides.

Secobarbital withdrawal and addiction treatment can be complex and difficult. A detox center must be the first step on the way to recovery.
